Crop photos during checkout

  • Updated

Most digital cameras take photos that are 4x6 or 4x5.3 in dimension, but SmugMug sells tons of different print sizes. That means when you order a print, you need to make sure the good stuff in your photo doesn't get cut off.

Once you choose your photos to purchase and place them in the shopping cart you may see a message indicating a need to adjust the crop of your prints.

Clicking on the Review Crop button will open the image to adjust the crop of the photo.

Does my photo fit?

In the shopping cart, you'll see crop lines if your photo isn't a perfect fit.

For example, this photo is 4x6 in dimension, but we chose an 8x10 print so it's cropping the subject's feet slightly.

Doesn't fit? Adjust the crop.

Adjust the crop while shopping by dragging the crop lines that appear over your preview photo. Move and scale to get the crop just right, then click Add to Cart when you're done.

Want to start over with the crop? Just click the Reset button below your preview photo.

In some cases, no shifting of crop lines will make your photo fit on some paper sizes. Group shots are notorious for not fitting on 8x10s.

To get the whole group in the photo, try choosing a different print size. In this case, an 8x12 would be a perfect fit.

Once you adjust the crop of the print the crop warning will be removed from the order page. You can Continue Shopping or Begin Checkout.
